Ministers and Diaconate members provide pastoral care to members who are homebound, hospitalized and are facing any other kind of crisis.

Transformation Choir

The Transformation Choir is a combination of all choirs and church members at large.  This is a great opportunity for those who cannot commit to an ongoing singing ministry to exercise their musical gifts and talents on an occasional basis. The Transformation choir sings a wide range of music.  This choir rehearses on the Tuesday before the 1^st Sunday of each month at 6:30 p.m., and ministers on the 1^st Sunday at the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship services.  The Transformation choir also travels with Pastor Riddick to outside ministry engagements and services.

Male Chorus

The Male Chorus is a choir exclusively for men of all ages.  This choir sings Traditional Gospel, Quartet, and Worship Music.  The Male Chorus rehearses on the Wednesday prior to the 2^nd Sunday of each month at 7 p.m., and ministers on the 2^nd Sunday at the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship services.

Sanctuary Choir

The Sanctuary Choir is the core of the music ministry of our church.  It is comprised of our mature members.  This choir sings traditional and contemporary gospel music.  The Sanctuary Choir rehearses on the Tuesday prior to the 3^rd Sunday of each month at 6:30 p.m., and ministers on the 3^rd Sunday at the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship services.

New Dimension

The New Dimension Choir is for the young at heart.  It is open all ages.  The New Dimension choir sings Contemporary Christian and Gospel Music along with rearranged Traditional Gospel Music and Hymns.  The New Dimension Choir rehearses on the Friday prior to the 4^th Sunday of each month at 6:30 p.m., and ministers on the 4^th Sunday at the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship services.

GBC Ensemble

This group is an auditioned team of singers led by our Worship Leader.  The GBC Ensemble facilitates the Praise and Worship segment of service.  They also accompany Pastor Riddick to various preaching engagements.

AWANA/Children’s Choir

The AWANA/Children’s choir is comprised of children ages 2 through 5^th grade.  The AWANA Children’s Choir rehearses on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., and ministers on the 4^th Sunday at the 10:15 a.m. worship service.

The acronym H.U.G. stands for the Harvesters’, Ushers’ and Greeters’ ministries. This ministry ensures that people feel welcome by greeting them with a warm smile and a hug.

• The Harvesters’ ministry is comprised of ushers who serve the congregation by collecting offerings.
• The Ushers’ Ministry serves to assist in meeting the needs of worship attendees in a wide variety of ways for the purpose of making worship comfortable.
• The Greeters’ Ministry helps to set the tone of worship with friendly faces as members and guests enter the building.

Given the world of technology, our church seeks to be on the cutting edge by presenting the Gospel over several mediums. Our media ministry is comprised of technology-minded individuals. This ministry is responsible for our Audio Recording, Audio Sound, Photography, Audio-Video Duplication and Video Recording, as well as maintaining a Social Media presence on behalf of the church.

The Gethsemane church provides opportunities for individuals to express themselves in worship through the Arts.  There are several creative ministries in which members of the church and community can take part.

 Praise Dance 

• The Dancers of Grace Praise Dance group comprised of high school girls. This ministry rehearses on Mondays at 6 p.m.
• The Youth Praise Dance Ministry is comprised of girls ages 3 to 12. This ministry rehearses on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.
• The Ladies of David Praise Dance Ministry is comprised of Millennials and Young Adults women. This ministry rehearses on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.

 Liturgical Step 

• Ladies of Victory is liturgical step ministry comprised of young women ages 3 to 12^th This ministry rehearses on Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
• Broken Silence is our liturgical step ministry comprised of young men ages 3 to 12^th This ministry rehearses on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.

Mime

Our mime ministry is a group of advanced auditioned performers.

 Flags

Our flag ministry is opened to all ages.  This ministry rehearses on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.

 Drama

The GBC Players are a group of writers and actors who put on theatrical productions for major occasions at the church.

These ministries are highly creative, colorful and captivating.

Christian Education

Bible classes are offered throughout the calendar year and fall under the umbrella of the church’s “Christian Education” ministry.  The following are considered Christian Education Courses.

• mDisciple Connect- mDisciple Connect is our New Members’ class series. These classes are designed for individuals who have just joined our congregation. These classes are offered Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., and Sundays at 10a.m.
• mDisciple- mDisciple is our regular Bible Study series. Selected courses are offered church wide. These classes are offered Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at our Carrollton site and Thursdays at Noon and 6:30 p.m. at our main site.
• 1^st Fridays- 1^st Fridays is a Bible series designed for millennials. Participants engage in “Real Talk,” by discussing relevant topics from a Biblical perspective. 1^st Fridays also provides an opportunity for millennials to connect and engage each other.  This group meets the 1^st Friday of each month in room 204 at the main site.
• Church School- Church School offers traditional yet innovative classes for all ages. These classes are offered each Sunday at 10 a.m. at the main site.
• AWANA Club- Gethsemane offers the international AWANA Club program. Our AWANA club is designed for children and youth ages 2 to 12^th to connect with the Word of God in an exciting way by participating in small groups and ultra-fun games. High school students can also earn scholarships for college through this program.
• Vacation Bible School- Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a Summer Bible study series for the entire church.
• Leadership Academy

All Christian Education classes are designed to explore real and relevant topics from a biblically- based world view.  The aim is to help members and guests mature in their relationship with God and with others.

Children’s Church

Children’s Church meets every 2^nd and 3^rd Sunday during both the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship services.  Children’s Church provides age-appropriate worship and activities for children ages 4 -10.

Couples’ Ministry

The Couples’ Ministry seeks to enrich, encourage and equip married couples to go the distance and fulfill God’s purpose for their marriage.  This ministry offers conferences, workshops, social outings and retreats designed to strengthen the bonds of spouses and provide them with tools to navigate love and life.

Singles’ Ministry

The Singles’ Ministry brings together singles of all ages and stages — never married, divorced or widowed.  This ministry offers conferences and workshops designed to aid singles in building a solid spiritual foundation and bases for service in the Kingdom of God.  Fun activities and outings are also planned to encourage Christian fellowship.

Men’s Ministry

Men of the church and from the community fellowship over breakfast and participate in discussions relevant to men’s issues.  The Men’s Ministry also sponsors conferences, workshops and fellowship opportunities designed to actively engage men of all ages in the life of the church and equip them to be leaders in their homes and communities.  The Men’s Ministry meets every 1^st Saturday of the Month at 8 a.m.

Sisters Ministry (Women’s Ministry) 

The Sisters Ministry is our Women’s Ministry.  This ministry sponsors opportunities for women in our congregation to fellowship and attends workshops and conferences designed to build them up spiritually.  This ministry is led by our First Lady, Mrs. Vera Riddick.  The Sisters Ministry meets the 3^rd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Seniors’ Ministry

Seasoned saints fellowship, travel and participate in programming designed to keep them active and engaged.  This group meets for lunch and information designed to empower seniors.  They also take occasional trips.

College Ministry

This ministry serves students attending area colleges as well as members attending college away.

Military Ministry

The Military Ministry provides support to veterans, active military personnel, and their spouses.  This ministry also leads our church in the observance of Veterans’ Day and other special recognition of vets, active military and first responders.

Hour of Power

The Hour of Power Prayer Ministry is a gathering of members of our church at large for a time of prayer and intercession.  This group prays for the needs of our church, our members, our community, our country and the world at large.  The Hour of Power Prayer Ministry meets on Saturdays at 8 a.m.

Healing Oil Health & Wellness Ministry

The Healing Oil Health & Wellness Ministry is a ministry of healthcare professionals who advocate and promote a healthy lifestyle for the members of the congregation by providing information, workshops and screenings.  These healthcare professionals are also available to assist in the event of medical emergencies in the church.

Craft Ministry

This ministry of extremely creative and crafty individuals are primarily responsible for the church’s décor, especially during the liturgical and holiday seasons.  They also assist the ministries of the church with their decorating needs.

Missionaries

The Marie R. Williams Missionary Ministry spearheads a number of service projects throughout the year, serving bereaved families, the homebound, homeless and deployed military.  They are affiliated with a state-wide denominational body, The Baptist General Convention of Virginia.

Community Outreach

This ministry leads our church in large-scale community projects throughout the year.  The focus is on feeding homeless, providing shelter and demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ to the disenfranchised.

Repast Ministry

Our repast ministry is members of our congregation who seek to support families during their time of bereavement.  In particular, they serve meals to families following funeral services that are held at our facility.

GreifShare

Gethsemane is a part of a national network known as GriefShare.  This organization provides support groups to individuals and families who experience losses—whether it is the loss of a loved one, job, marriage or any other crisis.

The Market Place

The Market Place is a food store that is open to the public.  Members of the church and community who are in need of food are able to shop in the market place free of charge.

Business Leaders’ Breakfast

The Business Leaders’ Breakfast is an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to gather and network.

Economic Empowerment

The Economic Empowerment Ministry works to equip individuals with financial planning and business development skills.
